The Social Justice Review, under the leadership of Fr. Miller, has publicized and promoted the English translations of Fr. Schooyans' books among the English-speaking public. Of all Schooyans' books this one may be the most important. [In our secularized culture] ethical and legal norms have objective validity only to the extent that they are achieved by means of ongoing dialogue and a concensus process. Since consensus, not truth, is the goal in such a society, this impacts on our language. In the past abortion was illegal; today it is "right." [The same holds true of homosexuality, same-sex unions, radical feminism, etc.] Schooyans opens our minds to these same issues as they function within the global horizon of the UN. He has done a masterful job of listing the agenda of the incessant meetings orchestrated by the UN. These are often strongly influenced by well-financed nongovernmental agencies (lobbies), such as the very active International Planned Parenthood Federation, based in London. Not unlike Communism, this world organization is trying to mutilate the nature if man and family by subordinating them to "things," i.e., ideological objectives. Under the guise of promoting world peace and development, the UN is attempting to absorb the prerogatives of the nation--state. It is Schooyans' thesis that the imperialism of Marxism has been taken over by the UN and its secular ideologists. In this situation, the Church, as the custodian of religious and authentic human values, must bestir herself and assume her traditional role in the world as a "Sign of Contradiciton."

In 1936, Hilaire Belloc wrote, "The future is not decided by a public vote; it is decided by the growth of ideas." The idea that man lives in a meaningless world without any moral truth has been promoted under the guise of "tolerance," and a powerful elite in the UN, wearing the mask of tolerance and consensus, has accepted it. Man's dignity and rights have evaporated as he has become a cog in the world machine. Fr. Schooyans, in brilliant style, removes that mask.
